High school students compete in welding contest at Kilgore College

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - High school students from across East Texas are showcasing their welding skills.

Kilgore College Welding Technology program and the KC Welding Club are hosting the fourth annual welding contest Friday.

High school students from 10 area school districts are competing. Those districts are Cushing, DeKalb, Douglass, Henderson, Longview, Mount Enterprise, Pittsburg, Sabine, Tatum and White Oak.

The contest is being held at the Applied Technology Center on the Kilgore College campus, 900 S. Henderson Blvd.

The top four winners of the contest will receive KC Welding Technology scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,500 and additional welding-related prizes.

Sponsors of the scholarships are Eastman Chemical Company, $1,500; Saulsbury Industries, $1,500; General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies, $1,000; and the KC Welding Club, $500.

Welding Technology at KC is taught by instructors Cody Edwards and Evan Radulescu.
