TYLER, TX (KLTV) - When Waco’s old Elite Diner sold to Chip and Joanna Gaines, they held an auction to empty out the building before beginning renovations. Carloads of people showed up the day the auction happened, not just to see the famous Texans, but to try to purchase a piece of Waco’s nostalgic old eatery.

Get ready, because you’ll soon be able to buy a piece of “Old Tyler”... minus the famous HGTV stars, of course. The last Luby’s location in Tyler is having an auction.

The auction is planned for this weekend at the Tyler Luby’s location on Roseland Boulevard. A new sign posted on the building’s exterior advertises the event on Saturday, April 13 at 10:30 a.m.

The auctioneer’s website, NationalAuctioneers.net, indicates the Houston-based company is handling the sale of “all remaining furniture fixtures & restaurant equipment, plus all building fixtures.”

A separate listing on Craigslist details the cafeteria restaurant's inventory of furniture, fixtures, dishes, kitchen equipment, and even a fire suppression system.
