LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - The 5th Annual Junior Showcase will be held at Heritage Plaza in Longview from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, according to the Big Pines Blues Society of East Texas.
“The Junior Showcase features performances by young guitar players from around the country and is open to players in two student age divisions,” a press release stated.
This year’s Junior Showcase will also feature a performance by 11-year-old Dylan James “Boogie Boy” Shaw, a blues piano player who delighted attendees of the 2018 event.
The Junior Showcase will be open to students in two age divisions. They include sixth through eighth graders and students in grades 9 and 12.
“For students, entering the contest is as simple as shooting a short video and submitting it to festival organizers by email at firstname.lastname@example.org prior to the April 30 deadline,” the press release stated. “The video should include sound (of course) be no longer than five minutes and may include backing band members.”
Each submitted e-mail should include the performer’s name and school, a parent name, a phone number, and an address.
Staff at the Big Pines Blues Festival will select finalists in two age groups from all the submitted video entries. The winners will be selected by a jury panel of professional musicians, the press release stated.
