TYLER, TX (KLTV) - If you find yourself contemplating what to grab for lunch or dinner today, you could always grab a bite to eat and at the same time, help give to a non-profit organization that’s making a difference in East Texas.
Children’s Village of Texas has provided long-term residential foster care for hundreds of boys and girls in East Texas for more than 30 years. The organization provides housing on their property for abused or neglected children.
Kathy Steinocher, the executive director of the program said the kids they take-in come from tough backgrounds.
"Most of the times, why a child was brought to us is because a parent chose drugs over their children," said Steinocher. "Its drug problems why they lose their children until they are rehabilitated, take parenting classes or are back on their feet."
Steinocher said the non-profit depends 100% on private donations to provide their service.
This year, Children’s Village of Texas has been selected as one of Jersey Mike’s Subs charities for its Month of Giving campaign.
Two Jersey Mike’s locations in Tyler and one in Longview will give 100% of Wednesday’s sales to support Children’s Village of Texas. Profits will be collected from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The locations are:
Tyler: 1690 S. Beckham Avenue and 4754 South Broadway Avenue
Longview: 3312 N. Fourth Street, Suite 100
A location in Jacksonville, 1314-C South Jackson Street, will also donate 100% of its sales Wednesday to Living Alternative.
