TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The Texas Rose Horse Park is getting ready for the first of its annual Spring Kickoff shows.
Thursday through Sunday, the park is holding its popular Hunter/Jumper competitions. Organizers expect 100 to 125 horses will be entered into various competition.
The hunters portion of competition measures how smoothly, beautifully, and consistent a horse and its rider jumps a course; the jumpers portion of the competition will focus more on speed, agility, and how fast a horse can run while keeping its jumps consistent. If you’re more interested in getting involved in the fun, there are other activities planned as well.
“We always love when people come out to the horse park, there’s always so much to do here," said Andrea Stewart, hospitality helper. "You can trail ride, take riding lessons, or watch a horse show. There’s always something going on every single weekend.”
Events started Thursday morning, but will continue through Sunday night. Each morning, competition kicks off around 7:30 a.m. and the park’s website said events run through nightfall.
The event is free to the public.
