Shooting victim reports being assaulted when stopped to aid woman on roadside

HARRISON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - According to the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, a man says he was assaulted when he tried to do a good deed Thursday evening.

Chief Deputy Brandon Fletcher said that deputies responded to a shooting victim who showed up at Longview Regional Medical Center. The victim said that he stopped on Sandy Lane in Longview to help a red-headed woman who appeared to be having car trouble. Her vehicle is described as a 1990s model brown Crown Victoria.

The victim says as he was looking under the hood of her car, two white men, one with brown hair and one with red hair, came out of the nearby woods and attacked him. He says he was hit in the back of the head and shot in the foot by these men. Fletcher says the alleged suspects did not take anything from him or his vehicle.
