TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A fire sent five people to the hospital on Friday evening; three of those people were childrem.
About 6:15 p.m. Friday, crews responded to a home in the 1800 block of Grand Avenue in Tyler. The fire was upgraded to a two-alarm fire after the first crews arrived. Six engine companies, ladder companies, and fire investigators came to the scene. Four EMS vehicles came to the scene. Tyler police were also at the scene to assist with traffic control.
Tyler Fire Marshal Paul Findley confirmed that five people have been taken by ambulance from the scene; two adults, as well as three children. He said that their conditions are not known yet at this time, other than that they are all critical and receiving medical care.
Findley said firefighters made a quick interior attack when they arrived so that they could get inside to search for people. They were able to locate and remove the people inside the home and get them outside to receive life-saving efforts.
Fire investigators are beginning the search for the cause of the fire. Findley said that they will interview those who called 911 about what they had seen, and will speak with the first responders in detail as they work to discover how the fire started.
