Smith Co. crews responding to overnight house fire

SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Fire crews from multiple departments are working to extinguish a large house fire east of Tyler.

Around 1:28 a.m. Wednesday, fire departments responded to the 1400 block of Farm to Market Road 2767, also known as Old Kilgore Highway.

A single-story brick home was fully-engulfed in flames when crews arrived, according to firefighters at the scene.

Firefighters were able to put out the flames in about 15 minutes, though the home is heavily damaged.

According to Assistant Fire Marshal Chad Houge, the homeowner woke up, spotted the flames, and got out unharmed.

No injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross was at the scene assisting the family with immediate needs.

It’s unclear at the time what may have caused the fire.
