Traffic diverted on NNE Loop 323 in Tyler due to overturned tanker

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Crews have contained a spill from an overturned tanker in Tyler.

According to the Tyler Fire Department, a hazmat crew is on the scene of where a tanker containing 7500 gallons of aviation fuel has overturned near the 500 block of North Northeast Loop 323. Tyler fire reports that the spill has been contained and there has been no contamination.

Sergeant Jean Dark with the Texas Department of Public Safety reported none of the aviation fuel contained in the tank was spilled. It was reported there was a small diesel spill that has been contained.

Dark said the driver was able to safely get out and no injuries have been reported.

TCEQ has been notified at this time.

At this time westbound traffic on Loop 323 is still closed near the area. Traffic is being diverted as they continue to try and remove the rig.

Tyler fire advises motorists to avoid the area and to seek alternative routes.

At this time the cause of the wreck is under investigation.

Tyler hazmat, Tyler fire and Red Springs fire all responded to the scene.
