LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - A Longview movie theater is looking to take a final step to a full remodel.

The city council considered a measure Thursday during a regularly scheduled meeting to rezone the property at AMC theater to allow it for the consumption of alcohol. The council approved the measure unanimously.

The vote comes a month after the planning and zoning board voted to OK the zone change.

The $4.5 million remodel will cut occupancy in half, but turn it into more of a boutique style.

The theater was zoned as a “planned development general retail and general retail.”

The vote will allow the property to be designated as a “planned development general retail for a movie theater with onsite consumption of beer, wine and mixed beverages.”

The renovation would cut the business’ occupancy down by half.
