Forgery call leads to foot chase, meth arrest in Longview
Christoper Paul Brown was arrested after police say he ditched a bag of meth while running from officers during a chase Tuesday.

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - Longview Police Department has arrested a man who officers said ditched a bag of meth while running from a reported forgery call Tuesday.

Police spokesperson Shane McCarter said officers were called around noon Tuesday to a forgery in progress near Safety City. When authorities arrived, the suspect had already fled the scene, but officers found a man matching the suspect’s description walking in the area. When officers approached the man, he ran.

Officers caught up with and took Christopher Paul Brown into custody not far from the scene. McCarter said Brown tried ditching a 54 gram bag of methamphetamine during the chase.

Brown is currently in the Gregg County Jail, charged with Manufacturing and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Evading Arrest enhanced, and Tampering with Evidence. He’s being held on a collective bond of $37,500.
