PALESTINE, TX (KLTV) - Several businesswomen in Palestine are trying to raise the funds to add an ADA-compliant swing set to Reagan Park.
Savannah Pulliam, one of the fundraisers, said that two of the people who would benefit from the new swing set are Dietra and Chance, her son.
Chance is a handicapped child who lives in Palestine, and he rides around on a skateboard everywhere he goes, Pulliam said. He has to watch his siblings play. Pulliam said he doesn’t get to swing, so she’s really excited for them.
Pulliam said they are about $800 shy of the $2,000 needed to get the ball rolling for the American with Disabilities Act-compliant swing set for Reagan Park. The swing set is designed to allow people in wheelchairs to be able to swing.
Pulliam told East Texas News that the City of Palestine’s parks department is on board, and they hope to have the new ADA-compliant swing set ready by summer.
