DIANA, TX (KLTV) - A church in an East Texas town is wanting to get people in the spirit of Christmas and has found a unique way to do just that.
Peace Fellowship Church in Diana has created a caroling wagon to bring the joy of the season to East Texas.
According to church member Dale Pyland, the story started a few weeks ago.
Pyland said the pastor of the church had been thinking about all the division in the country and community and had been thinking of a way to try and bring unity to the community.
He said while looking, they found a man who lived between Hallsville and Marshall about 2 weeks ago who had an old cotton gin wagon.
They decided to buy the wagon and fix it up, hooking up a sound system and Christmas lights to the wagon. Shortly afterwards, they began using it to carol around area neighborhoods carrying as many as 24 people at a time.
“We have had people as old as 70 and as young as 5 ride the wagon and sing,” Pyland said.
Pyland said seeing the joy the wagon has brought to people has really been a special experience for him.
He said the wagon and the caroling reminds him of the old days.
The wagon will be driving around Diana neighborhoods until Christmas Eve, where the last ride will go from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. People will be singing Christmas carols as well as giving out candy canes.
