TJC announces new head football coach

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The TJC Apaches introduced their new head football coach Friday morning.

TJC announced Thomas Rocco, the program’s current defensive coordinator, as the new head coach during a press conference on Friday.

Rocco is the ninth head coach in the program’s history.

According to a press release from the college, Rocco joined the program in January 2017 and coached under former head coach Danny Palmer

Earlier this month, Palmer announced he was retiring from his coaching position after 12 years with the program.

Palmer says he’ll serve as a liaison for the Apaches in the athletic department by becoming an ambassador for the college’s athletics departments and for TJC itself.

Before becoming the defensive coordinator for TJC, Rocco served as the defensive coordinator at West Texas A&M University for two seasons. Rocco also has previous experience at Blinn College, New Mexico Highlands University, Fort Lewis College and Midwestern State University, according to the press release.
