Malakoff Tigers hope to make history in state championship game

Malakoff Set To Make History

MALAKOFF, TX (KLTV) - Malakoff Tigers are in the class 3A championship game against Grandview, a team that beat them in week three of the season.

Both teams are different now and the Tigers hope to avenge that early season loss.

Should they win the championship game, it’ll be the Tigers first football championship, and they’ve been playing since the 1920s.

Coach Jamie Driskell says the town is very excited but he’s trying to keep his team focused on Grandview.

“Man its been crazy around this town its been awesome. People are excited and we are, and I want the kids to enjoy it, and we’re trying to find time to enjoy it ourselves. Its a time crunch, and obviously extremely busy. And everything comes down to trying to win Thursday and getting the kids prepared, try to make it as normal as possible. Obviously, we’re in a great setting there at AT&T, you know we want to make it as normal as we can, get after it, have fun, play extremely hard, and don’t leave anything out there. Hopefully we’ll come out on top.”
