SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - The Smith County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Sunday they are investigating a homicide in the county.
According to the sheriff’s office, on December 9, 2018 at 9:34 am, the Smith County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a possible homicide in the 5800 block of County Road 382 in northeastern Smith County.
Upon the arrival of deputies the multi family residence was checked and a deceased male subject was located in the doorway to one of the apartments, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff said the victim was a hispanic man believed to be in his 30s and is deceased as a result of gunfire.
The deputies did a complete search of the residence and the surrounding homes and located no other victims.
Smith County Sheriff’s Investigators and the Crime Scene Unit were notified.
An evidentiary search affidavit was submitted to Judge Jack Skeen of the 241st District Court. Once the evidentiary search warrant was obtained it was executed by Smith County Sheriff’s Investigators and the Crime Scene Unit.
The scene is being processed at this time.
