DPS releases name of woman killed in Smith County wreck
Emergency crews are responding to a wreck in the Noonday area, near Lake Palestine.

NOONDAY, TX (KLTV) - Emergency crews responded to a fatal wreck in the Noonday area, near Lake Palestine.

A statement was released by DPS at 6:10 p.m. on the wreck:

This afternoon at approximately 2:17, Troopers responded to a one vehicle fatal crash on CR-1261, 8 miles southwest of the city of Tyler. Preliminary crash reports indicate that the driver of a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox, Connie Sorie Dana, 73, of Flint was traveling west on CR-1261 when for an unknown reason, the vehicle left the south side of the roadway, struck a culvert, overturned, then caught fire. The vehicle came to rest off the south side of the roadway. Dana was pronounced at the scene by Judge Alfred and transported to Lighthouse Professional Mortuary Service in Tyler.

The crash remains under investigation.

An official with the Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed crews are responding to an overturned vehicle that is reported to be on fire.

The crash occurred on County Road 1261, just east of Farm-to-Market 2661.

At least one person has died, DPS confirms.
