Rusk County, DPS involved in search for suspect connected to pursuit that ended in Kilgore

RUSK COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in a Monday evening search for a suspect in Rusk County.

About 3:45 p.m. Monday, an official with the Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed troopers are assisting Rusk County Sheriff’s Office with a search for a suspect. The search was centered off County Road 102 in Rusk County.

Henderson Police Department officers assisted with the search.

About 5:50 p.m. the search was called off. More information is expected to be released Tuesday morning.

Rusk County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. David Roberts says the search is connected to an earlier pursuit that ended in Kilgore.

According to the Department of Public Safety, a trooper initiated a pursuit on FM 2767 at about 8:57 a.m. Monday. The pursuit continued eastbound on FM 757 before heading onto Highway 31. It continued back onto FM 2767 and enter the loop in Kilgore.

DPS reported that the pursuit ended when the subject got out of the vehicle and fled on foot in a neighborhood just off of TX-135. Witnesses reported a passenger also got out of the vehicle.

The Kilgore Police Department, DPS troopers, Gregg County constables and Texas Parks and Wildlife were on scene searching for the suspect. K9 units from Smith County also aided with the search.
