DPS identifies man killed in Smith County wreck
FM-756 remains closed as crews work to clear the scene of a fatal wreck.

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified a person who was killed in a two-vehicle wreck.

Officials say John T. Talton, 62, of Whitehouse was killed in the crash. One other person, Keaton Pierce Conder, 18, of Tyler, was transported to a hospital in stable condition.

The wreck occurred about 7:16 a.m. Wednesday on FM 756, just north of FM 346, about three miles west of Whitehouse.

According to a preliminary crash report, deputies believe Conder was traveling south on FM 756 in a 2006 Jeep when he crossed over the center line into the northbound lane and collided with a 2002 Chevrolet 1500 truck.

The driver of the Chevrolet, later identified as Talton, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was transported to Lighthouse Mortuary in Tyler.

The crash remains under investigation.
