GLADEWATER, TX (KLTV) - Two people have been arrested in connection with a child sex assault investigation.
Jessie Ray Sorrells, 33, of Gladewater, and Tiffany Diana LeBlanc, 36, of Longview, were taken into custody Monday. Sorrells is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and LeBlanc is charged with continuous sexual abuse of a young child or children.
Gladewater Police Department issued a statement Tuesday on the arrests, saying the two were taken into custody after detectives obtained arrest warrants for both from the Gregg County District Attorney’s office.
“These arrests were made as a result of an investigation which revealed Sorrells and LeBlanc had both been present and had both participated in the aggravated sexual assault of the same child victim. As the investigation progressed, Detective Gillen also learned that LeBlanc had been involved in the repeated sexual abuse of a child for several months prior to this case being opened,” the department release stated.
Sorrells was arrested about 1 p.m. in the 1300 block of E. Broadway in Gladewater. If convicted, Sorrells could be fined up to $10,000 and could face 5 to 99 years in prison, the department said.
LeBlanc was arrested at about 2:30 pm, in the 700 block of Highway 31 in Longview. If convicted, she could be fined up to $10,000 and could face 25 to 99 years in prison.
