Racing to remission: Family creates racing team to raise awareness about Leukemia

EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Fifteen-year-old Riley Salyer is a racing teenager, but his story has a special touch.

He races not just for the fun of it, but to also help raise awareness of children’s cancer. His younger brother Tucker was diagnosed with leukemia seven years ago and it is now in remission.

So the Salyer family created Racing to Remission Racing Team, and Tucker is a part of that along with mom, dad and other family members.

Riley first took interest in racing through a friend who introduced him to kart racing, and his father and grandfather also raced. In fact he drives his grandfather’s old racing car.

He’s racing and raising awareness of cancer in the name of his brother Tucker.
