DAINGERFIELD, TX (KLTV) - Police have taken a suspect into custody tonight who is believed to have robbed a bank Wednesday morning.
The post was shared by the police at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Dangerfield Police Chief Tracey Climer said the suspect is in the Morris County Jail tonight.
He did not elaborate as to how he was taken into custody, or where it happened. We will update this story as we get more information.
Just after 10 Wednesday morning, the First National Bank in Daingerfield was robbed.
Within minutes police and neighboring law enforcement converged on the bank when reports came that an armed subject had entered.
“The Daingerfield office had an armed robbery, suspect described as a black male,” said Daingerfield Police Chief Tracey Climer.
A bank representative confirmed that there was an attempted robbery at the location.
Investigators say witnesses told them the man who came in the building came very well prepared.
“Wearing all dark clothing, basically covering head to toe. Entered the building and presented a handgun,” Climer says.
He left with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot, heading south.
It was January 2015 the very same bank was robbed by two armed men.
Police continued searching south of the bank, with the FBI and Texas Rangers joining in.
No one was injured during the incident, and the robber remains at large.
the Morris County Sheriff’s Office and Naples police also assisted in the search and investigation.
