TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A strong cold front is expected to pass through East Texas overnight tonight. Out ahead of this front, strong to severe storms are likely across portions of our area.
The greatest risk remains strong/gusty thunderstorms winds near or in excess of 60 mph in the strongest storms. Some minor flooding issues along with an isolated tornado remain low, but not out of the question. Some hail near 1″ in diameter is possible as well. Frequent lightning is also expected in the stronger storms.
The Storm Prediction Center has most of our area under a SLIGHT RISK for strong to severe storms through tonight. This means there is a 15% chance for SIGNIFICANT severe weather within 25 miles of any point within the Slight Risk area.
We will continue to monitor the severe weather potential for you until it exits East Texas. Please remain Alert and download the KLTV Weather App if you have not done so already. If you have not signed up for First Alert ThunderCall, now is a very good time to do so.
