TYLER, TX (KLTV) - The City of Tyler is teaming up with a local veterinary service to offer pet owners a monthly, low-cost option to caring for their furry family members.
The third Monday of every month, Dehart Veterinary Services will park its mobile spay and neuter unit at the City of Tyler Animal Services. The mobile unit also offers services such as vaccines, heartworm tests, heartworm prevention, microchips, flea and tick products, and nail trims.
“Pet overpopulation is the number one thing for sure, but there’s also some health benefits you can talk to your vet about, as far as getting your pet spayed or neutered early," said Shawn Markmann, director of animal services for the City of Tyler. “You don’t have to worry about certain cancers later on in life, the animals aren’t as likely to roam; it’s just healthier for them over their lifespan.”
Dehart will set up in the Animal Services parking lot, which is located at 4218 Chandler Hwy in Tyler. If you’re interested in signing up for the low-cost vet services, you’re asked to visit Dehart’s website for more information.
