At about 5:30 a.m., the FBI conducted a raid at a residence on County Road 2998 off of Highway 11, two miles east of Hughes Springs, according to Hughes Springs Police Chief Randy Kennedy. The raid involved about 100 federal agents, including drones, a chopper and ATVs.
According to local law enforcement, the operation was successful and no injuries were reported.
The operation was part of a FBI investigation into suspected gun and drug trafficking. Kennedy said the FBI have been investigating the location for several weeks.
It was reported that several arrests were made in connection to the raid. No identities have been released at this time.
According to Kennedy, there was also a secondary raid related to the investigation at a location in Daingerfield.
